ICC24 Conference Venue

ICC24 will take place from June15-18, 2026 at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

On Monday June 15, CSA will conduct their Foundations of Cryocoolers Short Course which has a separate registration and fee.  Last conference's class is described HERE.

ICC24 Sessions will be held at the Syracuse University in one of their event spaces.  Lodging will be in nearby hotels in downtown Syracuse. The Conference Banquet is still in the planning stage.

As noted in the map below, the ICC24 Venue location is within easy walking distance of nearby hotels.  

Getting There
The city of Syracuse 
is in central New York State
as shown in the below map.  By car, Syracuse is about 250 miles northwest of New York City.  Syracuse is served by its Hancock International Airport (SYR) which has direct flights from several hubs in the Eastern United States, including Boston (BOS), New York (JFK & LGA), Newark (EWR), Washington Dulles (IAD), Charlotte (CHS), Atlanta (ATL), Detroit (DTW) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD).  In June, the average high temperature is 80°F/27°C.

The city of Syracuse's downtown area is quite walkable, offering a variety of restaurants, shops, historic sites, and family-friendly attractions. 

Some of the interesting things to do when visiting Syracuse include the following: 

•    Onondaga Historical Museum -  Located in downtown Syracuse, this museum explores the development of Syracuse China, Harriet Tubman’s role in the Underground Railroad, and Iroquois Indian lore. The exhibit on Onondaga Pottery and Syracuse China features nearly 200 examples of china made over a 130-year period. Accompanied by dozens of historical photographs, advertisements, and period graphics, the exhibition presents the captivating story of a product that became admired and heavily used across the nation.

•    Erie Canal Museum - Located in downtown Syracuse, the Erie Canal Museum showcases the only remaining canal weighlock building in the country, and helps you learn more about the Erie Canal's history and impact through hands-on displays, interactive exhibits, audio narratives, and original artifacts.

•   Everson Museum of Art. The Everson was the first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art, to create a permanent collection of ceramics, to collect video art, and to hire the internationally known architect I.M. Pei to design its building. The Everson is home to more than 10,000 works of art: American paintings, sculpture, drawings, video, graphics and one of the largest holdings of international ceramics in the nation. 

•    WonderWorks.  This family and kids amusement park for the mind provides 40,000 square feet of “edu-tainment.” The attraction combines education and entertainment with more than 100 hands-on exhibits that challenge the mind and spark the imagination. With the ceiling under your feet and the ground above your head, WonderWorks will turn your world upside down. Inside you’ll find six wonder zones of family fun!

•    Armory Square - Armory Square is a busy hub in central Syracuse known for its many diverse cafes and restaurants, as well as lively bars and nightlife along West Fayette and Walton Streets. An IMAX theater and hands-on exhibits are highlights of the Museum of Science & Technology, while there are regular performances at both the Redhouse Arts Center and the 1928 Landmark Theater. 

•    Clinton Square - Located in Downtown Syracuse, the square boasts a number of trendy shops, salons, restaurants, and pubs that reflect the architecture of the 19th & early 20th centuries. Once the city's original town center, Clinton Square is home to a stunning pond with fountain where the Erie Canal once ran through. 

•    E.M. Mills Rose Garden -  Lovely rose garden that showcases quite a variety of distinct rose varieties. Compact in space, but organized nicely.  The roses here are usually at their peak in mid-June.

•    Onondaga Lake Park - Onondaga Lake is located adjacent to Syracuse. The northeastern shore and northwestern end have a series of parks and museums.  The Salt Museum, located on the shore of Onondaga Lake, is full of dynamic exhibits and artifacts, including the original boiling block where brine was turned into salt.

•    Rosamond Gifford Zoo.  Founded in 1914, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is among the top 10 percent of zoos in the U.S. With more than 700 animals of all shapes and sizes, from the smallest animal (milkweed bug) to the largest (Asian elephant), the zoo offers unique viewing opportunities for its guests.

•    Central New York Regional Market - The Saturday Farmers Market, with 300+ vendors providing local and fresh goods from surrounding counties, with everything from farm-fresh produce, hearty meats and fish, locally sourced breads and dairy products, taste-filled spreads and dressings, delicious doughnuts and treats, limited-edition brews and uniquely blended beverages, and more.

•    Old Erie Canal Historic State Park - The Old Erie Canal State Historic Park encompasses a 36-mile linear segment of the original Erie Canal's Long Level section. It extends westward from Butternut Creek in the town of DeWitt, just east of Syracuse, to the outskirts of Rome, New York.

•    New York's Finger Lakes Wine Region -  Located 1.5 hour drive southwest of Syracuse, the Finger Lakes Wine Country covers 5 counties, 3 wine trails, and 3,065 square miles of rich cultural experiences.  In addition to the wine tasting, one can hike along beautiful waterfalls and gorges, embark on a boating adventure, shop in charming downtown villages, or sample the finest local cuisine.  The world famous Corning Glass Museum is nearby.
•    Corning Museum of Glass - Located 100 miles SW of Syracuse, it is the worlds largest glass museum. Dedicated to the art, history, and science of glass, it was founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works and currently has a collection of more than 50,000 glass objects, some over 3,500 years old. Whether you're a family looking for an adventure or an artist looking for inspiration, you'll discover something for everyone.
•    Niagara Falls.  Located a 2.5-hour drive west of Syracuse, the world famous Niagara Falls serves as the name collectively given to three magnificent waterfalls straddling the border between the United States and Canada. With a combined width of over 4200 feet and with its largest drop of 188 ft, the combined flow of the three waterfalls is the highest flow rate of any waterfall on earth.
